Tonga was created in 1976 by Arlette Schlegel-Liebert. It's a word invented by another word : it's the abbreviation of a Southern India word indicating the porterage in a piece of cloth to slung a child over the shoulder. It's also the name of small means of locomotion in Southern India. Tonga is a creation brand of natural products based on cotton, flax, wood, etc., and it's also the name of famous baby slings hammocks conceived while being inspired by multicolored nets of the "La Turballe" port in France, by a fiber belt of South America, by all the threads which are manipulated on sailing, and of the simplicity of the material surrounding the Togoleses when they have a child... |
